Author Guidelines

Guiding principle:

A Manuscript that will be submitted to Jurnal Ilmu Pertanian (Agricultural Science) must be written in good English (recommended for checking with proofreading tools), is original, free from plagiarism, and never been published and not under consideration in other publications. About the format of the manuscript have to follow:

Research Article:

A research article is written from a research result report and uses the data that resulted from the research. The format of writing content consisted of:

  1. Title: The title should be short, concise, describe the substance of the text, informative, and no more than 15 words, not use abbreviations.
  2. Authors, Affiliations, and Addresses: Provide main authors and co-authors with full name, detail of affiliation, address, and corresponding author.
  3. Abstract: Abstract should be written in short paragraphs, consisted of Introduction, method, result, and conclusion. Abstracts should not contain any undefined abbreviations or references and should not exceed 250 words.
  4. Keywords: consisted of a maximum of 5 words or phrases specifically, do not use words or terms from the title. Keywords must be separated with (,).
  5. Introduction: The introduction should provide the necessary background information for the study. Provide the basis of the research literature, show the originality of the research, and explain clearly the aims of the research.
  6. Materials and Methods: Consisted of location and time of the research, materials, and methods, write shortly, add references if consisted of methods that already published. The scientific name of the species and cultivar names should be written although it has been mentioned in the abstract or introduction. Size, number, and the manufacturer of the material should be shown in a common name. Treatment, experimental design, and statistical methods should be described clearly.
  7. Result and discussion: Result and discussion must be combined in one passage. The result must be given by the outcome of the research. Data showed clearly with tables or figures as needed. Do not use the large tables. The discussion should not contain repetition of the results, explain the significance of the findings and the result of the research.
  8. Conclusion: Must be written as a paragraph with a maximum of 80 words. Consisted of summary the finding of the study.
  9. Acknowledgment: This should be written as short as possible. Each grant/aid that requires acknowledgments must be mentioned. The names of funding organizations should be written. A big thank you to colleagues and associates for the right professional.
  10. References: Should be written with the style Harvard system (name and year are arranged alphabetically) using the reference manager tool (i.e. Mendeley). Contain a maximum of 25 and 80% references that have been published for less than 10 years. Self-citation maximum of 3 references. If cited in a non-English language, write with the originality of the language.

Review Article:

A review article must use kinds of literature review with a topic of interest, contains a comprehensive review of a topic, included a new synthesis of existing literature and describes the most relevant and recent contributions. The maximum number of pages are about 8 The format of the review article has to follow:

  1. Title: The title should be short, concise, describe the substance of the text, informative, and no more than 15 words, not use abbreviations.
  2. Authors, Affiliations, and Addresses: Provide main authors and co-authors with full name, detail of affiliation, address, and corresponding author.
  3. Abstract: Abstract should be written in short paragraphs, consisted of Introduction, Discussion, and Conclusion. Abstracts should not contain any undefined abbreviations or references and should not exceed 250 words.
  4. Keywords: consisted of a maximum of 5 words or phrases specifically, do not uses words or terms from the title. Keywords must be separated with (,).
  5. Introduction: The introduction should provide the necessary background information for the review article. Describe clearly what the article will be discussed.
  6. Discussion (Subtopic being addressed): Consisted of sub-topic if appropriate. Describe the topic of the review and compare the study. Consider several references per paragraph.
  7. Conclusion: Must be written as a paragraph with a maximum of 80 words. Consisted of a summary of the rationale for the review and purpose of the article.
  8. Acknowledgment: This should be written as short as possible. Mention the people or organizations that helped with the literature. A big thank you to colleagues and associates for the right professional.
  9. References: Should be written with the style Harvard system (name, year, and are arranged alphabetically) using the reference manager tool (e.g. Mendeley). Contain a maximum of 25 and 80% references that have been published for less than 10 years. Self-citation maximum of 3 references. If cited a non-English language, write with the originality of the language.

 

Manuscript General Format:

The manuscript must be written in A4 one-sided using Microsoft Word document with the Ilmu Pertanian (Agricultural Science) template, single column, 1.5 space line, Font Times New Roman 12 point. Margin 2 cm for all sides. Journals using the metric system, S1 units, and the period is centered between the unit (e.g. mg.L-1). Figures and Tables must be placed at the end of the page after references. The table must be given only horizontal lines for borders, size maximum height of 230 mm. Images/Figures must be given with high resolution (minimum 300 dpi).
